The Essex County crash happened in the city of Haverhill on Friday, Dec. 1.

Hartford County resident David Ziembko, of New Britain, was driving southbound on I-495 shortly before 3 p.m. when his 2017 Honda CRV went off the road near the Route 97 overpass and through the grass median, Massachusetts State Police said.

The SUV hit a guardrail, causing the car to flip onto its roof.

Responders pulled Ziembko from the vehicle and rushed him to Lawrence General Hospital, where he died.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

He may have suffered a medical emergency before drifting off the road, police said. Troopers are investigating the crash.

No other cars were involved in this wreck, according to police.

Authorities closed two lanes of I-495 South for three hours as they cleared the crash site.
